Accessibility Statement

TF Handy Wash is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone.

Last Updated: March 29, 2026

1. Conformance Status

The TF Handy Wash website (tfhandywash.com) strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

While we aim for full Level AA conformance, we recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort and are continuously working to improve.

2. Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features organized by the four WCAG principles:

Perceivable

  • Text alternatives are provided for all meaningful images and icons
  • Color contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
  • Content is structured with semantic headings (h1–h6) for easy navigation
  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Decorative elements are properly hidden from assistive technologies using aria-hidden="true"

Operable

  • Full keyboard navigation is supported throughout the site
  • Skip-to-main-content link is provided for keyboard users
  • Visible focus indicators (3px solid outline) appear on all interactive elements
  • No content flashes more than three times per second
  • All interactive elements have descriptive accessible names via aria-label attributes

Understandable

  • Clear, plain language is used throughout the site
  • Bilingual support in English and Spanish (EN/ES) with language toggle
  • Page language is declared in the lang attribute
  • Form fields include descriptive labels and error handling
  • Navigation is consistent across all pages

Robust

  • Semantic HTML5 elements (nav, main, footer, section, dialog) are used throughout
  • ARIA roles, states, and properties are used where appropriate (e.g., role="switch", aria-expanded, aria-checked)
  • Live regions (aria-live="polite") announce dynamic content changes to screen readers
  • Valid, well-structured HTML ensures compatibility with current and future assistive technologies

3. WCAG 2.2 Specific Features

In addition to WCAG 2.1, our website addresses the following WCAG 2.2 success criteria:

  • Focus Appearance (2.4.11): Focus indicators have a minimum 3px solid outline with sufficient contrast, clearly visible in both dark and light themes
  • Target Size (2.5.8): All interactive targets (buttons, links, toggles) maintain a minimum target size of 44x44 CSS pixels for reliable touch and pointer interaction
  • Dragging Alternatives (2.5.7): No functionality on our site requires dragging. All interactions can be completed with simple pointer or keyboard actions

4. Built-In Accessibility Panel

Our website includes a built-in accessibility panel (accessible via the floating accessibility button or the footer link) that offers the following adjustments:

  • Text Size: Choose from four text sizes (small, default, large, extra-large) that persist across page loads
  • High Contrast Mode: Increases color contrast for improved readability
  • Reduce Motion: Disables animations and transitions for users who are sensitive to motion (also honors the prefers-reduced-motion system setting automatically)
  • Reading Guide: Displays a horizontal highlight bar that follows your cursor to help track lines of text
  • Link Highlighting: Adds visible outlines and underlines to all links for easier identification

All accessibility preferences are saved locally using localStorage and persist between visits. No data is sent to any server.

5. Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website has been designed and tested for compatibility with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) on Windows with Firefox and Chrome
  • JAWS (Job Access With Speech) on Windows with Chrome and Edge
  • VoiceOver on macOS with Safari and iOS with Safari
  • TalkBack on Android with Chrome

Our site also works with browser-based accessibility tools such as screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation.

6. Known Limitations

While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, the following third-party content may have limitations outside our direct control:

  • Speed Queen App: Machine payment and monitoring functionality is provided through the Speed Queen mobile app, which is developed and maintained by Alliance Laundry Systems. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of their app.
  • Google Maps Embed: The embedded Google Maps component on our location section is a third-party widget. While Google provides some accessibility support, the map interaction may present challenges for some assistive technologies. We provide the full address as text and a direct link to Google Maps as alternatives.
  • Social Media Links: External social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube) have their own accessibility standards and limitations.

7. Feedback & Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the TF Handy Wash website. If you encounter accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days and to resolve issues as quickly as possible.

8. Enforcement & Legal

TF Handy Wash recognizes its obligations under the following accessibility laws and standards:

  • ADA Title III: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III requires that places of public accommodation, including their websites, be accessible to people with disabilities. We consider our website an extension of our physical laundromat and are committed to equal access.
  • Section 508: While Section 508 primarily applies to federal agencies, we use its technical standards as a benchmark for our own accessibility efforts.
  • WCAG 2.1/2.2: We voluntarily conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

This statement was prepared on March 29, 2026, and reflects the accessibility status of the website at that time.
